About Our School

Knox Middle School, previously named Knox Junior High School, was built in 1958 and consisted of grades 7-9. It was named after Mr. J. H. Knox who was Superintendent of Salisbury City Schools. In 1983 a grade level and name change took place. Our school presently consists of grades 6-8. A merger of two local units took place in 1987 with Knox Middle School becoming part of the newly formed Rowan-Salisbury School System. Knox Middle School, located in the city of Salisbury, NC is near Rowan-Regional Medical Center and Catawba and Livingstone Colleges. Our nearest elementary school is Overton Elementary and our feeder high school is Salisbury High. Come enjoy the rich history of our school and visit nearby historical district of Salisbury.
